Lord This Hurts, but You Care!

DAY 5 OF 6

RELATIONSHIP, MUCH?

A truth must be realized and accepted in contemplating why one makes poor decisions that hurt you and others. There is a minimal (maybe even zero) relationship with their Creator when they are making choices that go directly against God’s will for their life.

We cannot willfully walk in sin and have a right relationship with God at the same time. It is like oil and water; the two cannot blend.

1 John 3:9 tells us whoever is born “of God” does not continue in the practice of sin. The word commit is an in-action verb. It shows that this is someone who willfully sins and remains in it without care for the repercussions of that particular sin. This passage implies that remaining in sin and having the Holy Spirit dwell within you simultaneously is a significant conflict.

Christian Pastor and Author A.W. Tozer once said, “The Holy Spirit never enters a man and then 'lets him' live like the world; you can be sure of that!”

With that thought, one must wonder if someone who willfully “continues in sin” and remains here on Earth ever received the gift of Eternal Life. (Romans 8:7-12)

I have often heard, “I just don’t know how _________ could do this or that,” and I remind, that we cannot expect the unsaved to act as if they are.

Some have been saved but are running from the call of God on their lives. Have you ever known one of these? I have. It’s a slippery and dangerous slope when The Lord calls you into something specific, and you run hard in the opposite direction.

Remember Jonah? (Read Jonah ch.1 & 2)

Jonah was one of those who ran hard in the opposite direction. He paid a high price for disobeying his own Creator. Thankfully, Jonah finally obeyed, and many were saved.

What happens, though, when one refuses to obey and keeps running? They will eventually expire; that’s what happens. Scripture is clear on that matter, as well. (Rom 6:15-18, Romans 6:23)

So, how do we pray about these issues with our loved ones? We seek to pray “IN the Spirit” so that God can guide our prayers into His perfect will for them. We pray that God will bring this loved one into a right relationship with Him before it’s too late.

PRAYER

Jesus, You and You alone know the heart of man. You know the depths of my concern for ______________. I'm asking You now, God, to intervene on ________________'s behalf. Let _______________hear your voice and obey. Bring __________________to the center of Your perfect will for hers/his life so that _____________________may live life more abundantly through You! Bring sleepless nights and restless days to ________________ until the right relationship with You has been established. God, I know that being out of Your will is much more hurtful to You than it is to me, so I ask that You reveal the pain they are causing and bring them to repentance before it’s too late.

I pray this In Jesus' Wonderful Name, Amen.
