Let My People GoSample
Our response… here I am, send me
Today we focus our attention on one of the most important aspects of our Christian life… our response to the call of God. Be challenged by today’s Bible passage:
- God had immense capacity to rescue his people by himself; but he chose Moses as his instrument for this task, the same way he has chosen you to engage his Kingdom agenda here on earth.
- Moses was reluctant to take on the task. He looked for all manner of excuses including his lack of eloquence (4:10)
- God made a promise of his presence and help to Moses; 'I will be with you' was his resounding rejoinder to Moses’ fears, and he was true to his word. Note God’s instructions to Moses to enlist the elders and Aaron into the assignment.
- God made it clear the task would be full of challenges and opposition, but success was assured. (3:10).
- Despite his initial misgivings and discouragements along the way, Moses accepted God’s call, stood tall, and played his role with commitment and unwavering courage.
Reflect
- Think about a time when you were reluctant to engage an assignment God had called you to do, either at a personal level or as part of a group. How did you overcome the reluctance, and what was the result?
- As we become involved in God’s agenda for his people, what fears, oppositions and challenges do you anticipate?
- In which areas do you sense God calling you individually or as a group? Who can you enlist to be your ministry partners?
- Share some promises God has given in His word that can be an encouragement in your response to God.
Pray
- Pray: that the Lord will help you to overcome your fears and reluctance.
- Pray: for leaders who are charged with the responsibility of providing oversight over difficult ministry and 'rescue' missions.
- Pray: for churches, and faith based organisations mandated with the responsibility of 'delivering' God’s people from different strongholds… for courage, resources, and success in their missions.
- Pray: for courage and boldness for children and young people who have embarked on the journey of faith but often face opposition because of their convictions.
- Pray: for faith and strength to go where God is leading you.

About this Plan
In this series, we reflect on the theme ‘Let my people go… that they may worship me’ based on Exodus 3:1-22. God’s people cried out to the Lord for help - He saw, He heard, He felt their pain, and He came to deliver them. May we all heed this same call today - to partner with God in rescuing His people from whatever their bondages might be.
