Do It AnywaySample
GET UP AND GO
I was still working at Video Warehouse when I attended a leadership conference in Atlanta with my parents. This conference would become a "kairos" moment: a time when God’s purpose would be revealed to me. It was at this conference that God told me: You have four months to move to Atlanta.
This made no sense. Internally, I was kicking and screaming! Why Atlanta? Why now? I’m comfortable where I am. I love my church. Dad and I are working great together in ministry. Why leave when things are good?
Isn’t this just like us? We cry and pray to God for more. We ask Him to trust us with something greater. Then when He opens the door and gives the instruction, suddenly we are paralyzed by fear and doubt.
We see this often in Scripture, but one character who stands out the most is Moses. Moses had spent years looking after his father-in-law’s sheep, when God finally called him to something new. It wasn’t a subtle call—God spoke to Moses from a burning bush! He said that Moses was called and anointed to lead God’s people to the promised land. Yet even after receiving reassurance from God, Moses feared that his speech impediment would hinder his effectiveness. He asked God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11)
God didn’t tell Moses, “OK, here’s the plan. This is what is going to happen.” Instead, God declared who He was: “I am who I am”(Exodus 3:14).
There are times when God wants us to act on faith—to hear from Him and just go. To trust in who He is rather than spend so much time thinking about who we are or what may or may not happen.
Do you feel stuck in your life and not sure where you’re going? Trust God in the fog and act on faith when He wants you to get up and go!
Surrendering to God does not prevent you from moving forward; it prepares you to be ready to move whenever God calls on you. Don’t give up in the middle of His plan. Even if the direction you’re headed seems crazy, do it anyway!
Lord, who You are- is what matters the most! Are you calling me to get up and go? I surrender to You and Your Will! Amen.
