I Want God: How to Love Him With Your Whole Heart and Revive Your Soul

DAY 3 OF 5

Day 3: Heart-Willing to Move

There must come a point where we say yes to God without the safety net, outside of the bubble we’ve built. And that will take faith—faith in the things we will never understand, the things we aren’t supposed to understand, but what we want to understand anyway. Faith that we will be okay without the bubble.

Oh, that we would entrust it all to God. All the details of our lives—the daily 'it' that consumes us. What places could God move us? What places could He send us to do His work? What places could we find that hold riches that we, in our logical life, cannot know? We don’t know because we don’t trust. And somehow we have believed this idea that it’s riskier to follow God than it is to follow what we know. It’s a lie, friends. Risk is never on the God side of things.

Year after year, the logical bones rattle and creak and cry out for the moment to be brave and defy what they know. As John Wayne is supposed to have said, “Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.”

Today is a good day to saddle up, since conditions never have to be perfect for God to do something great. It’s a myth that we must wait to have it all figured out before we can move forward with God. God doesn’t want us to have the future mapped out. He just wants us to be okay with not knowing all the information before we become heart-willing to move.

He is looking for people who will believe Him when He promises, “Those who search will surely find me” (Prov. 8:17), who will surrender their logic, move when they are scared, and pray like crazy that He will bring revival to their hearts first, and then to the hearts of others.

Reflect:

Am I willing to step out in faith, trusting God without a safety net? How can I surrender my logical concerns and embrace uncertainty?

Prayer:

God, that our bones would creak for You. That we would stop trying to be so smart, stop trying to understand, stop trying to make You make sense. Forgive us; this is what we know. Help us be okay with the not knowing and saddle up anyway. Bring revival to the logical bones and let us step boldly wherever You call. Amen.
