The Thin Line Between Fear & FaithSample

The Thin Line Between Fear & Faith

DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4: Peter

The Apostle Peter gave us so many great examples to learn from throughout his life, and this one is no different.

Jesus asks His disciples; who do men say that He is? They gave their answers on what the people had been saying. Then Jesus asked them, who do they say He is? Peter answered with the correct answer that was given to him by the Holy Spirit. He declared that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of the living God.

Jesus commended Peter for his fantastic answer!

Then Jesus began explaining to the disciples how He was going to suffer A LOT, be killed, and then be resurrected on the 3rd day. Peter took Jesus aside and basically told Him no that was not going to happen to Him.

Peter did not get commended this time. This was Peter’s line.

Peter, the other disciples, and pretty much everyone that believed Jesus was the Messiah at the time felt He was going to dethrone Rome and liberate Israel. Jesus will liberate Israel, and the entire world, but in the physical sense that will happen in His second coming. Peter did not understand this at the time. He wanted Jesus to rule, but he wanted it on his terms instead of God’s.

Does that ever happen to you? Have you ever asked God for something and He did it in a way you didn’t expect or like? Is it difficult to choose faith when God moves in a way that doesn’t match our expectations?

About this Plan

The Thin Line Between Fear & Faith

Sometimes the line between fear and faith is razor thin. A moment, a decision, or a split-second choice can demonstrate whether we are living in fear or acting in faith. In the midst of difficulty, how do we ensure our faith remains in God and no other source? This devotional covers how to remain in faith or return if we’ve left.
