DAY 1 OF 4

Steer Clear of Barricades & Detours - Half-Truths and The Real Truth about the Father

What God can do is not as significant as who He is. What He does for us is not as important as who He is to us.

Any teaching focused solely on what God does can becomes a barricade, blocking our view of who He truly is. It shortchanges us by reducing our relationship with him from a loving family to a transactional arrangement.

When we concentrate only on what God can do for us, we begin to slip away from seeing him as our Father. We may even begin to act under the impression and belief that he is a deity that needs to be appeased by our good deeds. This transactional mindset serves as a detour from the knowledge of our identity as sons to seeing ourselves as mere servants. Yet in truth, when we become Believers, God regards us as a part of His Family!

"So, you are not foreigners or guests, but rather you are the children of the city of the holy ones, with all the rights as family members of the household of God."-Ephesians 2:19 TPT

Without a shadow of doubt, God is King! He reigns with unquestionable authority. But crucially, He is our Father. When we lose sight of this, we risk living as slaves and subjects, oblivious to our true status as Princes. Our identity as sons comes from the revelation of the identity of God, our Father.

Through Jesus Christ, God’s true nature and identity is revealed to us. As we discover God through Jesus, we begin to know who we truly are. Without the revelation of Jesus , the identity of the Believer is not unveiled. By keeping our focus on Him, we begin to see the possibilities embedded in our identity.

"But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves." - John 1:12 MSG

A noteworthy tip given when driving is to look in the direction you are heading to. If you look to the side of the road, you will steer to the side of the road. It is the same in our lives, when we take our eyes off Christ, and focus on any other object, we will steer in the direction of the object. What we constantly behold, we eventually become.

Religion sells a half-truth, focused only on what God can do. The Gospel reveals the complete truth of who God is to us through Christ.

Through Christ, we see the truth of who God is.

Through Him, we are connected with God as a Family; with full access- no barricades or detours.

No acts to perform or transaction to uphold. Just Jesus and His righteousness transferred to us.

He has become to us; wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

What was required of us; Christ became for us.
