5 Days to Finding More Peace

DAY 4 OF 5

Having Peace in Every Circumstance

God gives us peace, no matter the circumstance. We learn to trust his character and his promises and learn to trust him when he says that he will be with us in every way at all times (2 Thessalonians 3:16). Anything that God says is as good as gold; we never have to doubt that he means what he says. He promised peace to us and fulfilled it as he said he would.

The peace that we are promised through Scripture came in the form of a person, Jesus. Isaiah 9:6 calls him the Prince of Peace. Our focus on Jesus helps us see things in the proper perspective and to keep a stance of peace. We’re not knocked off course by what happens; we are committed to showing God’s love and peace in our relationships and even where we work.

Our posture of peace also makes us peacemakers, and therefore, sons of God, as in Matthew 5:9. We bring peace through kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, even when we’d rather do the opposite. No matter how we feel, we remember that everything we do is to glorify him. His peace should be experienced by all, so we deny our own nature and show his nature through his Spirit living in us.

Being a peacemaker means that we pray for peace and try to resolve conflicts. Believers are not exempt from experiencing tension and negative situations, but our difference is in how we handle these situations. We have the ability to ask Jesus to show up and bring peace to every situation. We can then relax, trusting that he will make himself known through every circumstance.

About this Plan

5 Days to Finding More Peace

Believers encounter situations every day that may cause us to lose peace. But as Christ-followers we have an advantage: We can trust the nature of Jesus to give us peace. This five-day plan explores how we can have everyday peace through trusting God.
