Remix: A New Way to See ServingSample
Scripture calls us to be kind and compassionate to one another. You might be asking yourself today, “How can I live this out? How can I be kind? Loving? Compassionate?” Well, James speaks to this in his writing in the Bible. The idea of visiting people in their afflictions (also known as trials or troubles) is something the world wants us to step out of, but Jesus’ way is different. He wants us to step into it. Jesus wants us to love people so that the love we have takes over our lives and is poured out to others. We are called to love others just as Jesus loved us. This is one of the greatest commandments found in the Bible. As we do this and live out our walk with the Lord, it is important to live in the world but not of the world. Again, James breaks down this complex idea, reminding us to keep ourselves unstained from the world. This means that we have to be in the world and serve, love, care, and lead others but not be affected and stained by the brokenness of the fallen world around us.
This week, do your best to remember to love everyone no matter who they are! As you serve others in their troubles, keep your foundation in Christ alone.
