Discovering Your Purpose in God's Plan

In the journey of life, we all long to discover our purpose. We yearn for a sense of direction, a reason to wake up each day with enthusiasm. Just like Joseph in Genesis 37:5-11, God's plan for our lives is often revealed through dreams, visions, or a strong sense of calling. We, too, can find inspiration and guidance from Joseph's story.

1. Embrace Your Dreams: Joseph's dreams were a glimpse into the future God had in store for him. He saw himself as a leader. And though it might have seemed audacious to others, he held onto those dreams. God often places dreams in our hearts that may appear far-fetched, but they could be a part of His greater plan. Embrace your dreams and seek God's guidance to understand them.
2. Endure Challenges: Joseph faced rejection and jealousy from his own family because of his dreams. Your pursuit of purpose might not always be smooth. You may encounter obstacles, criticism, or even hostility. Trust that even life’s most hostile moments hold insight about what we possess even though it may seem to be weaponizing your gifts.
3. Seek Godly Counsel: Joseph shared his dreams with his family, and while they didn't understand initially, his father remembered them. Seek wise counsel from trusted friends and mentors who can help you discern and understand your purpose. Joseph's father's response shows that sometimes it takes time for others to recognize and accept God's calling on your life. Their delay in understanding doesn’t have to be yours as well.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me the strength to endure challenges, seek godly counsel, and remain patient and humble throughout my journey towards a purpose-filled life. May I have the boldness to trust what you are doing in me even when no one else can see it. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

While Joseph’s brothers thought they were hurling insults by referring to him as “the dreamer” they didn’t realize their insults were actually insight into their brother’s purpose. What hidden insight might you have missed in some of the insults that have been hurled in your direction? Have they called you cold, bossy, critical, emotional, impulsive or dreamer too? The clarity you seek about what you possess just might be hidden in your everyday life.
