This I Know: God Will Guide Me

“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” Twelve simple words from a children’s song, yet they’re powerful. These words have been sung in almost every language worldwide. Jesus loves me. How do I know? The Bible tells me so. 

What if the Maker of the Universe wrote a book for how to live in the Universe? He did. God speaks today, and one way He does is through the Bible. He speaks to your heart, mind, and soul through His inspired Word.

The goal of this Bible Plan is to help you see the power of the Bible so after these seven days, you’re motivated to keep reading every day. 

There’s a legend about a mighty battleship caught in a vicious storm. Through the rain, waves, and fog, a light appeared in the distance. Fearing a collision with another ship, the captain ordered his signalman to warn: “We are on a collision course. Change course 20 degrees east now.” Immediately came the response: “You change your course 20 degrees west.” Irritated, the captain replied: “I am a captain. Change your course immediately.” Back came the reply: “I am a seaman second-class. You change your course.” By now, the captain was furious. He sent one last message: “I am a battleship. Change your course now!” Through the dark, the flashing reply came forth: “I am a lighthouse.” As you can imagine, the captain immediately changed his course. 

We are much like that captain. We are responsible for “steering our ship,” but life circumstances can cloud our view of which way to go. We could, in fact, be heading toward danger without realizing it. Like a lighthouse watchman, God has a much clearer view of the direction your life is heading toward. Like a lighthouse’s beam, God’s Word will help you navigate your life. A mighty battleship is still no match for craggy rocks. We can be easily broken by poor decisions or unforeseen events. A sea captain constantly scans the horizon, and we, too, get to daily read the Scriptures for God’s help along our journey. 

God will guide me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

Pray: God, I’m trusting You for guidance. Show me where I’m not on Your path. Empower me by the Holy Spirit and through Your Word to follow Your ways. Amen
