Abase And Abound.

”I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.“ Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul declares and teaches us how to be abased and how to abound. How to sow and how to reap. How to lead and how to build. How to steward and how to give. Paul teaches us the responsibility of stewardship. Greed is self-based. Whereas stewardship is Christ-based.

The Amplified Version expounds upon Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ in the following manner: ”I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.“

Paul teaches us how to live a life that’s focused on God and not worshipping lack. When you worship lack—the gap may seem bigger than God. In fact, God is Lord over the lack. He is Lord over the gap and will fill every need.

For Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.“ Be not like those who are greedy—those who are not satisfied with their portion.

For God gives wisdom to get wealth. For Deuteronomy‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, ”But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.“

Increase is in His Hands. Increase is under His Authority. “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.“ Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Even the hairs of your head are numbered. For God cares for you. Covet not another man’s portion.
