Victory Over Insecurity a 5-Day Devotional by Dr. Robyn L. GobinSample
Day 4: Embracing true humility.
True humility is obedience to God and living a life that is totally dependent on Him.
When we live in this way, we communicate regularly with God. As we commune with him, we are changed. He gives us the desire to do His will. Our minds are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit such that we see ourselves the way God sees us. Humble people don’t think less of themselves than others; they just don’t believe they are better than others. When we are operating in humility, we fully acknowledge our gifts, talents, and abilities while honoring God as the source of these gifts, talents, and abilities.
We can embrace true humility by giving the places where we feel insecure and ‘not enough’ to God in prayer. Like the Apostle Paul, we can surrender our insecurities trusting in Christ’s power: “Most gladly therefore, I will boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in distresses, in persecutions, in difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). When we engage with our insecurities and weaknesses in this way, they are transformed into reminders of God’s strength and power. Although we may not feel capable, strong, or qualified enough to do what needs to be done, we can trust that God is. The Bible tells us all things are possible with Him (Matthew 19:26), and God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called to His purposes (Romans 8:28). When we latch onto these truths, we come to realize that, in God’s kingdom, surrendered weaknesses are the key to unleashing God’s infinite power in our lives.
Reflection Question: What insecurities and weaknesses can you surrender to God today?
