Saul: Friend or Foe?
Understandably, Saul’s ministry is met with skepticism and fear from all sides. Will the Church accept God’s choice of who will serve him? A friend vouches for his sincerity, which helps springboard Saul’s message. Not everyone loves this plan, however, and Saul gets run out of town.
Read: Acts 9:20-31(NLT)
Explore the Theme: Saul’s conversion from an enemy of the faith to a full-fledged disciple turns heads as he wastes no time in boldly declaring that Jesus is the Son of God. Just as quickly, he faces questions about his past actions and present intentions. Yet he remains undeterred, even increasing in strength. How do you think Saul felt when people doubted the genuineness of his faith? How do you think Saul had the strength to continue on in spite of so much opposition? What do you think he feels toward God?
Ask God: Saul experienced genuine change, but was doubted by almost everyone. Ask God to show you a time in your life when you felt misunderstood or when your past choices were used to question your faith. What did that time teach you about God? How does Saul’s response to his circumstances either encourage or challenge you in your own response? Invite God to reveal any areas where you can focus more on what he wants to do in and through you and less on everyone around you.
Live it Out: Saul made it through a difficult time because of help from his community. Who do you trust to encourage and strengthen your faith? Reach out to them this week and share how they can pray for you, or simply thank them for having your back. Ask how you can pray for or support them, then be intentional about doing it.

About this Plan
(Part two of a four part journey through the Books of Acts.) Even in (and especially in?) hard times, God is present and is working to build His Church. We can find encouragement in this. When circumstances force us to pivot, we don’t have to lose heart - God is with us.
