We Were Made to Be Courageous

DAY 2 OF 5

Now if you’re like me, sometimes you have the “take it on the chin” or “I deserve this” approach to not just the scenarios I’ve previously stated, but to other minor and major inconveniences. It’s called earthly sorrow, and, if you’re a believer, it’s the hurdle you have to jump over to get to Godly sorrow, which is where honest conviction comes in and forces change.

Earthly sorrow brings you down and keeps you down, extinguishing hope, and in some severe cases, it can create a whole world of psychological problems. Not only can it cause severe depression that can take your life, but it can also bring about narcissistic tendencies. If you can’t fix it, might as well embrace it, right? WRONG. This is one of the enemies favorite combos to throw at you. Recognize it, get over that hurdle, and by “that hurdle” I mean yourself. There’s no easy way to say it. Suck that snot back up your nose, wipe the tear away and get over yourself so that you can shift your focus back towards the Cross. Once you’ve done that, the magic can happen, because now you get to give it to God.

Unlike the “woe is me” earthly sorrow, Godly sorrow forces change, lifts you up, and inspires hope. (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Today, I’d like for us to meditate on Jeremiah 29:11, so that we remember throughout our struggles, whether they’re mental, physical or financial, our God will get us through them.
