Making Dreams Come True

Have you ever had a really big dream? Something so huge that it felt out of reach? Something audacious, thrilling, and even frightening? If you did, you probably prayed that God would help make that dream come true; and perhaps it did.

What if I told you that millions of girls around the world have really big dreams too? It might not sound like such a big dream to you, but for most of these girls, it is a truly audacious, out-of-reach dream.

Their dream is to go to school. But for the 130 million girls worldwide not in school, this dream is out of reach.

Sometimes girls can’t go to school because there is no school nearby and they have no transportation. Often their families cannot afford the cost of school uniforms and supplies. Sadly, in many parts of the world, education is not viewed as important for girls. Instead, too many are expected to help in their homes and then marry—even while they are still children.

Many organizations help focus on the importance of sending girls to school. If you support a child through one of the child sponsorship organizations, you are helping pay for the cost of that child’s schooling. If you support the education programs of international development programs, you are helping make education dreams come true. There are even organizations that provide bicycles to girls so they can ride the many miles to school.

When girls don’t go to school, it is hard for them to have the full and productive life God created them to enjoy. Not only do they lose out, but the world loses the contributions they might have made.

Helping girls go to school and stay in school shouldn’t be a dream. It is something that, with our help, every girl can achieve.
