Numb

DAY 3 OF 7

Along with the numbness, some of us tend to have the feeling of a heavyweight. In the secular world, it is labeled as “depression,” but the Bible calls it “the spirit of heaviness.” This spirit is eradicated by a change of garment, which is the garment of praise.

If you can take a moment to deliberately find evidence of the goodness of God in your surroundings, then your garment will begin to change. The Bible tells us to count our blessings. It is a word of counsel to all of us because it can become very easy to get overwhelmed by the things that we feel are going wrong in our lives. This gives grounds for the spirit of heaviness to enter because the weight of the responsibility to accomplish all of these things becomes a burden on our shoulders. However, when you cast your mind back to all the good things that the Lord has done, confidence in the Lord will come back. Faith in His promises will return to you. With that newfound hope comes a revived passion for the things of God.

If you find yourself in a place where it feels like an unseen force is sitting on you, begin by reminiscing on the victories that God has brought to you. As you remember all of the times that God came to your rescue, release all of the future elements of your life into His hands. As confidence fills your heart, know that He has never left, and even if you don’t feel it, He is still working.
