If you've ever tried to split a snack with a younger sibling, you know it can go one of two ways . . . either you end up with the smaller portion, or you end up with nothing but crumbs! The thing is, it can be tempting to try and "get them back" after feeling like you've been taken advantage of.
Sometimes, being wronged requires reinforcements. If we tried to take on every incident where we've felt this way by retaliating, or seeking revenge, we just might make things a whole lot more complicated. It's why Paul wrote to the Roman church about making peace with everyone.
Making peace doesn't always look like getting along completely, or even receiving an apology. It does mean we seek God to make things right, though. When we do this, we have more room to show up for others with love and authentic care for them . . . yes, even when their actions just aren't adding up. Turning to God for support frees up some energy for us to live in a way that honors others the way Jesus modeled for us.
When we feel taken advantage of, our Scripture today reminds us that God will help us when circumstances don't feel fair. Instead of letting anger get the best of us, God will help us overcome hurtful circumstances with good.

About this Plan
For the next four weeks, we’ll look at how the earliest followers of Jesus created a new kind of community as God's family. Through their example, we’ll learn that there is enough when we share what we have — and if there isn’t enough, God provides. We'll also learn that our actions can speak when words aren’t enough and that God’s love is always enough.
