Flourish Devotional - Faith-Filled Meditations for Moms on Flourishing in Marriage

DAY 5 OF 5

Fulfilling God’s Purpose Together In Marriage

‘How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?’ - Deut. 32:30

Our text gives us an idea of the power of togetherness.

God is intentional in giving each person their spouse because they have a role to play in His divine agenda.

Many times, we get carried away doing life with the basic stuff – rent, chores, fees, bills, school runs, and other responsibilities daily without stopping to acknowledge that in those very mundane tasks, we fulfill purpose together.

Marriage is not meant to be one-sided. The bond we create while doing the mundane together is necessary to fulfill God’s purpose in our marriages.

What more? We achieve more when we are in unity together as couples - be it spiritual, career, business, parenting, ministry, etc.

In this season, do not miss out on what God can do through your walking side by side with your spouse. The benefits are enormous!

I remember one of my marriage mentors saying that there’s been nothing he had ever agreed on with his spouse that did not come to pass, even to the details of how their new house should look before even seeing the house.

It is that togetherness the enemy seeks to fight relentlessly by introducing small quarrels here and there in the home. As kingdom people, we must learn to fight for our unity no matter what, sometimes through forgiveness, humility, empathy, prayer, or love.

May we prioritize our togetherness above all else in our marriages in Jesus' name. Amen.

Love,
