Understanding Holiness

DAY 4 OF 5

Understanding Our Sanctification

Hebrews 10:14 - "For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified."

1 Corinthians 1:2 - "To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours."

How We Are Sanctified by Christ?

Understanding the legal ground for our sanctification is crucial to silencing the voice of condemnation. Our divine legal ground is found in the offering of Jesus' body, which was offered once and for all. This sacrifice provides the foundation for our sanctification, and it is through this sacrifice that Jesus has perfected us.

It is important to grasp the truth that holiness does not begin with our actions; it starts with believing that through Christ, we have been made holy. Our ability to live a holy life stems from the understanding that we have been consecrated and set apart as priests unto God. This mindset allows us to carry the consciousness of a new creation and empowers us to live according to God's standards.

Holiness is primarily a nature; it is a state of being. From the moment we receive salvation, God imparts His nature of holiness to us. We do not have to strive or perform certain actions to become holy because we were made holy by God Himself. It is essential to realize that our holiness is rooted in the fact that we are children of God and carry His DNA within us. Just as a goat cannot give birth to a lion, God, who is holy, cannot give birth to something unholy. As believers, we have been sanctified, called, and separated unto God.

In conclusion, understanding that our sanctification is grounded in the offering of Jesus' body empowers us to live a holy life. Holiness is not achieved through willpower or external parameters; it is a result of our identity as children of God. Let us embrace our sanctification and walk in the reality of our new nature, bringing glory to God in all that we do.
