Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8Sample
Today’s passage reading is out of Luke 24. We’ll be having a discussion about the Emmaus disciples, and sorry to say, a look at their foolishness too!
These two young men were making their way to a village called Emmaus. On their way there, a man they don’t recognise joins them on their journey. The guys begin to share the story of what had taken place in Jerusalem, about the death of Jesus and how they had hoped that He would be the one to redeem Israel. They continued saying how the woman (Mary) had said that Jesus had risen, but His body had not been found and He has not been seen.
Jesus responds in verses 25 - 26: “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?”
Jesus continued to share and teach about how all the scriptures point to Him: "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself." (verse 27)
It was only later that the men realised that the person they were with was Jesus.
Friends, let us not be foolish and slow to believe that redemption comes through the risen Jesus Christ, that He will do what He says and that the mystery of the Bible is revealed in the person of Jesus.
