Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8

DAY 13 OF 23

What measurement do we use to determine the value of a person? What happens to them? How others treat them? How much they value themselves?

In Luke chapter 15, we see the very nature of the Father. He redeems all things to Himself through Jesus. We see the values He places on people's lives. He takes the initiative. He rejoices over every person who is “found," who is saved into His kingdom, into His own household.

Our main scripture is verse 7:

"I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance."

The righteous ones have already been saved, the celebration for those has been done already. But when a sinner has repented, when someone “lost” was found, the Lord’s heart rejoices. This means that He sees each person with significant value. Value worth effort, value worth risk, value worth dying for.

He would do it again even if you were the only person on earth.

Do you value yourself and others the way God values you? If His love for you and for other people become the new measurement of the value of ourselves and others, what impact will that have in the way you love and, therefore, treat yourself and others?
