Unconditional Love
Kim Harmon
[Romans 5:1-2 MSG] By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide-open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise. [John 3:16 MSG] This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
It is hard to believe in this world that unconditional love exists. Instead, we see where love is conditional. It may be hard for you to believe in unconditional love because you have never experienced it. That is why God’s love is so amazing. That is also why being around God’s people is so important. Anyone seeking God will try to do right. John 3:16 is a popular verse because it is so powerful. It says that God loves us SO much that if we believe in His only Son Jesus, then we can spend eternity in heaven. Romans 5:6-8 says, “Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifices. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.” [MSG]
So, God loves you this much right now, at this moment. He loves you. The God of the universe knows you and loves you. He knows everything about you. He knows what is wonderful about You because He made you. He knows what you have hidden in your sin closet. And He loves you, all of you. He loves you so very much that He made a way for you to always be one of His children. The only requirement is that you believe in Him. He never says to clean yourself up first. In fact, He says to come as you are. He never says you have to first get your act together. Instead, He says, “I love you. Give me your life and let me make it better.”
He rescues you where you are, as you are. You can pray right now, “God, I give you my life.” Often, we try so hard to make our lives better, only to find ourselves spinning our wheels deeper and deeper. God is ALWAYS there to pick you up, dust you off, look straight into your eyes, and say, “I love you. ”All we have to do is let Him. Let God love you.
God, I know You love me as I am. Help me to be the person you created me to be. Guide my future and give me Godly wisdom. Amen.
