Not Made to Be Alone

DAY 5 OF 7

God Will Help You

Read: Isaiah 41:1–20

SOAP: Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God,

the one who takes hold of your right hand,

who says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, I am helping you.’

Into the Text

Today, let’s make our reading personal. The community we are invited into with God is deeply personal. God will not abandon you. He is with you. He will help you. Can you read the following pieces from today’s reading by switching out every mention of “you” with your name?

“I have chosen you and not rejected you.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you!

Don’t be frightened, for I am your God!

I strengthen you—

yes, I help you—

yes, I uphold you with my victorious right hand!” (Isaiah 41:9–10).

“For I am the Lord your God,

the one who takes hold of your right hand,

who says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, I am helping you’” (Isaiah 41:13).

God promises to help you! He will respond to your prayers and supply everything needed for life. God shows His power by promising to create abundant life in an area that received less than twelve inches of water per year. Nothing is too hard for God! This same God hears us, knows what we need, and promises to help us. The areas of your life that have been in a drought? God can bring life there, too. He knows exactly what you need, and He wants to help. You are not a burden to God. You don’t have to be afraid that what you ask Him to do will be too much. For God, nothing is impossible!

We, who are made in God’s image to reflect His love to those around us, are called to be helpers, listeners, and providers. But we are also invited to ask for help. Vulnerability invites a deeper relationship with God and with others, as we lay down our pride and take down our walls. Being vulnerable in community gives us all space to use the gifts God has given us to reflect His love to one another. Community with God gives us a foundation to build all other communities on, as we build relationships with family, friends, the local church, and the world.
