Bloom
In the beginning, we hear about a garden. An idyllic dwelling place for both God and man. This was a place where man walked intimately with the Lord.
We’re all familiar with the story of the Garden of Eden and what transpired there: separation from God. When Eve gave Adam the fruit, a new path was illuminated and sin entered the picture. God knew this would happen and had a plan. That plan manifested with God meeting us here again in the flesh. Jesus came, died, and resurrected so that we could be made right with the Father.
“You’re the God of transformation, a new beginning waiting to unfold. You’re the God of second chances, the Hope of good things breaking through the soil.”
Through Jesus, we’re offered a fresh start. A chance to turn around and begin again. As believers, we understand that following Jesus doesn’t equal a perfect life free of pain, pests, or weeds. We will have uncertainty but can rest in the fact that Jesus has overcome the world, and, with that understanding, take heart. Even when we can’t see what’s coming next, God has already cleared a path for us, we need only follow.
“Where You walk the flowers bloom. You turn deserts into gardens when You move. This barren land can give good fruit. Come tread the ground inside my heart and make it new. Let it bloom.”
With Jesus there is life. In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I came that they may have life, and have it to the full.” A full life bears fruit! Something to show for a life walked closely with the Lord. Our once-dead hearts begin to rise and align with His. This path is Holiness. And a holy life lived wholly for the Lord will burst into bloom. Broken things are made whole. Deserts turn into gardens.
God, thank you for second chances. I know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that following His way is holy and life-giving. As I seek to be closer to You, would you shift my perspective to see you moving? Where I see a desert, would you show me a garden? Would you tread the ground in my heart, and make it new? I ask that You would use my life to bear spiritual fruit and inspire others to do the same. Amen.
