What Is Your Divine Assignment?Sample
Wow, the final day in this devotional has arrived! This has gone by super quickly! Over the last couple of days, we took a closer look at the story of Moses. We read about who God is, and maybe some of you have made the (first) choice to follow Jesus! If so, congratulations!
Has your divine assignment become more clear? If not, I hope that today will give you the kick-off you need to get started.
Today I would like to remind you that you really do have a divine assignment and we’ll explain why you have one!
And yes, we will have a look at Moses again, but this time, when he is a little older. When Moses succeeds in freeing the Hebrew nation out of Egypt, the conclusion is: “And on that very day the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.” Who brought out the Israelites? Not Moses. It was the Lord! God receives all the glory for the liberation.
Do you see why you have a divine assignment? It is to give honor to God. Your divine assignment is not about you. It’s about God! Are your motives right to chase your divine assignment?
“Do I really have a divine assignment?” Yes! When you become a follower of Jesus Christ, you become a ‘Christian’. It is in the name already! Christ means ‘anointed’, which means “Chosen or expected to get an important position” (Cambridge University, 2022).
Jesus was chosen to and expected to get an important position. Moses was as well. Moses’ name means, ‘Taken out of’, because he was taken out of the Nile, the Egyptian source of life. Jesus was taken out too, out of God, the Source of life in the world.
When you follow Jesus, you are chosen and expected to possess an important position. Stop doing the things that lead you further away from that position. Start living a life from your new position. And maybe this is the most important divine assignment for us all.
