Leaving a LegacySample
Keep your conscience clear before God and man.
Many would doubt your religion and love for God if you led a Christian life. Sometimes you are tempted to make choices that might be acceptable to others in the outside world, but as a child of God, your conscience will forbid it. The LORD and his anointed one are my witnesses today that my hands are clean, Samuel proclaimed to the people. They responded, “He is a witness,” (1 Samuel 12:5). Calling witnesses to your case is one thing, but calling God as a witness is quite another. That assertion can only be made by people who act with integrity. People are always brought to defend those who live improperly, but those who follow God ask God to be their testimony.
Therefore, to him who understands to do good and does not do it, to him it is a sin, cautions James 4:17. The Holy Spirit aids us in becoming more like Christ, which is one of God's greatest aspirations for us. You must follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and choose wisely. Avoid over-spiritualizing situations. Just act morally when you know what is right. God can see into your heart, while people can only see the surface. No matter what happens, maintain a pure conscience in front of God and people. The fruit of the Holy Spirit will be seen in your life, just as Jesus did when He grew in knowledge, stature, and favor with God and all humankind. It's frequently claimed that what you are and how you act when no one is looking reveals your genuine character. Therefore, you must keep your conscience free in front of God and people to retain a good reputation. The Word and the Spirit help establish and cultivate a clear conscience. Your conscience will be conditioned to prevent sin if you keep God's Word hidden in your heart.
