The Last Apostle | John 13: Love One AnotherSample

The Last Apostle | John 13: Love One Another

DAY 1 OF 5

In John 13, Jesus clarifies that one of his disciples will betray him, which freaks the others out.

Judas and Peter begin to represent two ways resulting in life or death. Life in Jesus is not based on holiness or loyalty; both Judas and Peter abandon him. Instead, will you allow Jesus to restore you or hang yourself in despair?

We see again that “glory” is the opposite of what we think. Jesus will be glorified through the most inglorious thing – a crucifixion (John 13:31-33). It’s the ultimate act of love. And so Jesus teaches, “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34, NIV). It becomes the ultimate mark of a disciple.

About this Plan

The Last Apostle | John 13: Love One Another

Near the end of his life, John was the last of the living apostles and wrote a story about Jesus. It’s his testimony of who Jesus is, what he said, what he did, and who he claimed to be. Jesus has a story. He invites us to make it our story. When we make Jesus’s story our story, we have life in his name. This plan focuses on John 13 and Jesus's prediction of Judas's betrayal, Peter's denial, and Jesus's new commandment to his disciples. It is part of an ongoing series through John.
