Couples: Kindness ChallengeSample
Challenge 4
Proverbs 11:17 (NLT):“Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you.”
Kindness Illustrated
Kindness has many positive results. When you demonstrate kindness, not only will the Lord bless you, but the recipient will be thankful and you’ll experience joy! A cruel person doesn’t see how they hurt others. Cruel people have no friends, and others stay far away. Being cruel is like poison, it eventually kills the person.
Action Steps
Have you ever conducted a self-assessment of yourself? Do you wake up in the morning and feel good at who is looking back at you when you look in the mirror? Start with conducting an internal self-assessment. Do you see yourself as someone who treats their spouse with the respect they deserve? Would your spouse say they feel respected and loved by you?
We all fail at this from time to time. The enemy wants you to fail in your flesh, but you don’t have to! Jesus says if you want your spouse to sincerely love you, then you must be actively loving your spouse. This is shared in many verses throughout the Bible, especially in the command to love one another as Christ loves His Church. A bad attitude or negative comment can scar the heart, but a loving attitude or positive comment will strengthen the bond of your relationship and marriage! So, say and do something every day that creates a positive impact and a stronger bond. Christ is counting on YOU!
