Take a Shot of Positivity

Ever find yourself in a vicious circle of thoughts that leave you with negative feelings? Well you’re not alone! We are constantly bombarded with such thoughts. We cannot stop our thoughts but we can surely work on the quality of our thoughts. Did you know that we can think good thoughts and speak good things on purpose?
We speak what we think and we see what we speak. You get the cycle? You probably feel negative or sad, but you can deliberately zip your mouth and not give power to it by saying it out loud. You probably wake up and don’t feel very great but choose to speak life, “This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
Some people are busy trying to find the reason for their unhappiness. They don’t realize it is their own words. There are two ways you can try to find your way out of negativity. Firstly, when you are in a difficult situation, praise God! When Paul and Silas were chained in prison, they were busy praising God and singing hymns to Him, instead of cribbing and crying about their situation. Suddenly, there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once, all the prison doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose (Acts 16:26). How awesome is that!
Secondly, when you find yourself feeling low and being negative, stop thinking and start thanking. Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done! Instill an attitude of gratitude! We all have a reason to be thankful. You will realize how blessed you are!

Prayer
Loving Father, help me meditate on thoughts which are good and teach me to defuse negativity by praising and thanking You! Amen.
