Precious Moments That Count For EternityNäide

On Fire
Have you met someone learning to play a musical instrument? After the first few lessons, he will be on fire to learn, practice and give it his best. But later, he may relax and not be as diligent as before.
At times, in our Christian walk too, we find ourselves in the same situation. So many of us were on fire for the Lord, when we first began our walk with Him. How many of us continue to celebrate the love of the Father the same way as we did before? Do we still show the same zeal in fulfilling all responsibilities in the church? Though we don’t intend it to happen, after some time, that passion or joy fades and other things take center stage in our life.
David, in this Psalm, asked God for that joy to be restored to him, as it once was. ‘Playing church’ can get tiring. We must take time to evaluate ourselves and find out why and when this lifestyle became a routine. A child will never get tired spending time with his or her daddy and would always be excited doing so. Similarly, a father would never refrain from giving his child good things. Likewise, if we ask God, with a true heart and earnest attitude, He will restore the joy of His salvation to us, and our Christian lives will never be the same.
Salvation is a free gift from the Lord, and not of our own doing. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
Prayer
Father God, restore to me the joy of being Your child, the joy of Your salvation. Enable me to enjoy the freedom and love You have for me. Amen.
