Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
He Will Do It
Elizabeth was barren. She and her husband, Zacharias, were old and definitely beyond the age of naturally and physically having a baby. Luke 1:36 shows us that she was considered barren by society. I believe that throughout their lives this couple must have prayed, and prayed hard, for a child. After all, children are a blessing from God. There’s no reason why God wouldn’t bless them with a baby, right? Yet we see that in their old age, they still had no children.
Does this mean God had forgotten about them? That He wasn’t listening? That His blessings are only reserved for a few people and not everyone? Or that Elizabeth and Zacharias didn’t have enough faith to see a miracle? NO. The Bible says that we can be assured that if we ask anything according to His will, He will hear and answer us (1 John 5:14-15). God had something bigger and better in store for them.
Elizabeth was to bear a child supernaturally. That child would be John the Baptist, the one who would prepare the way for the Messiah Himself! When this would happen, everyone would know that it had to be God because it wasn’t possible in the natural.
Similarly, in our situations, our prayers may not be answered at the time we want and the way we want. But we must sit back and be assured that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. He is going to give us a breakthrough that will glorify His name.
Declaration
I will not be discouraged because God shows me His favor and will bless me with double honor.
