[Speak the Name] the Name of JesusSample
In the Beginning
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit were all present at creation. They made humankind in the image of God. The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, hovered over the waters. The Holy Spirit of God was there. That’s why we sing songs that ask the Holy Spirit to rest on us, to move over us, as He moved over the waters. That’s what Scripture says.
The gospel of John seemingly describes Jesus at creation. John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This correlates with Genesis 1, the creation account. In Genesis 1:26 God says, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” God the Father is including Jesus and the Holy Spirit in the creation account, in bold declarations throughout Scripture. The creation account is so important that if we do not have a healthy view of it, everything else will be out of whack. The devil should never get credit for creation or innovation. The devil creates nothing; he only manipulates. We must have a healthy view of the creation account where we see the Trinity in action—God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Colossians also speaks of Jesus. It supports the united action portrayed in Genesis and in John. This book says that all things, whether in heaven or on earth, were created by Him and for Him. It says that in a world that vies for all of our affections, attention, and allegiance, day in and day out, Jesus was not only present but He was incredibly active in creation. This is so important. Jesus was not only active in creation, but He’s active in recreation, in transformation, in redemption, and in restoration.
Jesus is incredibly active. He’s pursuing you. In fact, He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), the last, the least, the lonely. This is what Jesus came to do. He is incredibly active. He was. He is. All of creation is purposed for the glory of God. We are the most valuable creation of God the Father. Some think we don’t even matter to God, that we’re just these little robots, but we matter deeply to God. We were created for Him, for His pleasure, and for His glory.
Thank You, God, for Your work in my life.
