Overcome! You Shall Be A Co-Regent

What is your personal idea of what life in heaven will be like? Do you see yourself as a bored singer going to choir practice for the eight millionth time? lying around on vacation for zillions of years? a cherub in God’s angel army? a janitor, happy to sweep up after everyone else?

Get this--Jesus Christ promises his faithful overcomers that they will not only enter heaven but join him at the center of power in the universe. We are not only his loyal subjects--we are also his brothers and sisters, which makes us princes and princesses. We are heavenly royalty. For now we accept that great honor and dignity as an invisible promise. We struggle and suffer; we endure and wait.

But when Jesus returns, the believers will see for themselves how high he will lift them up: “To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne” (Revelation 3:21). Imagine! Co-regents with the Lord of the universe. Who could believe that if it weren’t actually written in the Bible? You can look it up for yourself. No matter how small and powerless and insignificant you may feel now, your Savior has amazing plans for an amazing eternity for you.

Hang on! The glory to come is worth every bit of your hardships today.
