Expecting the One With Many Names

DAY 3 OF 27

THE EXPECTANT BRIDEGROOM!

Before the world began, Jesus was present with God! He was the 'Beginning!'

“And he said unto me; It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the ‘beginning’ and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of Life freely.” Revelation 21:6

Isaiah, Zechariah, and Jeremiah all refer to Jesus as 'The Branch.' Out of the roots of Jesse, from the throne of David, this branch would come. He would ultimately reign as King of Kings!

“Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the ‘Branch.’” Zechariah 3:8

Jesus referred to himself as the 'Bread of Life.' You and I need substance to survive. Most eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and many snacks in between or after dinner, but how much more critical is our eternal substance and nutrition that will carry us to eternity?

“I am the‘Bread’of Life.” John 6:48.

For women who have married, do you remember how excited you were when your 'Bridegroom' laid eyes on you as you walked toward him on your wedding day?

“Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the Bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the ‘Bridegroom’ will be taken from them; then they will fast.” Matthew 9:15

LET US PAUSE:

Just as the Wisemen and Shepherds came expecting the birth of Jesus, we should look for the 2nd return today! We should not only be looking but expecting! For just as from the beginning, He became the Branch that burst forth from the root of Jesus. His purpose was to give Life through the bread of His word!!

One day we will attend the wedding of all weddings when our true Bridegroom steps forth to take our hand and invite us into the banquet hall as His new bride!

About this Plan

Expecting the One With Many Names

Jesus was born over 2000 years ago! His Mother, Mary, was expecting the birth of her son Incarnate! Today, we too are 'expecting' Jesus, not as a baby, but as the One honored with so many names. In this 27-day Advent Devotional, let us go more profound as we discover Jesus through His many names that reveal His character! He is our soon-coming King!
