Joy For Today: 14 Joy-Filled Days With God

DAY 6 OF 14

"Enjoy What You Have"

People who are satisfied with what they have received from life do not worry about how their possessions compare to those of others. If you value the things that you have and don’t constantly yearn for what you do not have, you will be a happier person.

There are two kinds of people: those who are satisfied with what they have, and the dissatisfied who always want more. It is obvious that the former are happy people and the latter remain unhappy.

While they were wandering around in the wilderness, God provided everything for His people. The psalmist then testifies that He will still provide in abundance for His children’s needs. God wants to provide everything that is necessary for you, too – abundantly.

Therefore, enjoy everything that He has so lavishly given you, be prepared to share the things that you have with others who have less and forget about all the things that you do not have. Listen to the advice of the writer to the Hebrews, “Be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’” (Heb. 13:5). The more satisfied you are, the happier you will be.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, forgive me for being so dissatisfied with what I have and for comparing myself with people who have more than I do. Thank You that You have always provided those things that I need in abundance. Amen.
