Put on All Your Armor: Feet Fitted With the Gospel of Peace
After the mammoth three-day Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War, soldiers on burial detail came on a curious sight--many of the corpses were barefoot. The retreating Confederate troops were so poorly shod that they paused in their flight to remove their tattered foot rags and scavenge for boots from the dead men.
Most military veterans will tell you that warfare is a marathon, not a sprint. Infantrymen move a lot, through rain, mud, and snow. If you are going to move a lot, you better have decent boots.
Guess what? Mobility is part of the arsenal of spiritual weapons given to you by God. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:11,15, “Put on the full armor of God . . . with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” In your Christian walk, you will go through many stressful changes. But what will sustain you in all the change, movement, and commotion of your life is the certain knowledge that Christ Jesus is your personal peace with God.
Mobility also brings you into contact with many other people. You can share Christ’s peace with people you meet, and it won’t diminish your own personal supply one bit.
