Book By Book 1: Genesis To 2 SamuelSample
Today sets up one of the greatest showdowns of all time. Moses does what God has told him to do, but unfortunately Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, decides he really doesn’t need to obey God. He increases his unjust treatment of the people of Israel and openly opposes God.
Opposition to God is a dangerous thing. Although we don’t always do everything God wants us to do, hopefully we don’t often defy God as directly as Pharaoh did here. However, there are people who do. Perhaps you have heard stories where God has taken pretty drastic action to get people’s attention. Hopefully we can avoid being stubborn enough to need the kind of reminder of God’s power Pharaoh is about to receive.
