Infinitum Advent Break Barriers, Week 2Sample

Infinitum Advent Break Barriers, Week 2

DAY 4 OF 5

Generosity builds our trust in God.

Take a moment to name a few things you know to be absolutely true about God’s character. They might be things you know from first-hand experience, or something you’ve seen with enough clarity or regularity to believe is true about Him, or something someone you deeply trust has shared with you, and you confidently affirm their experience.

Now take that list and extrapolate it out—if someone is ____ and ____ and ____ (traits above), then it stands to reason that they are also: _________________. Take the time to really relish this mental picture. Delight in the reality that this is your Dad. A Being with this kind of character profile … is this someone you would enjoy hanging out with? Is this someone you’d like to introduce your friends to? Is this someone you can trust with your secrets? With your authentic self?

When we take the time to relish in the reality of God’s character, it frees us to generosity because we realize that this Being of deep, trustworthy character is our Provider. He has our back. Exploring generosity towards others in the context of this kind of safety sets us up to increase our faith in God. As He backs our generous plays, we tangibly learn just how trustworthy He is. Just how generous Himself!

The kind of generous Being who moulds Himself into human infant form and enters our world to build trust, make a Way, and relish in life with His creations. Practicing our own extravagant generosity is a tangible connection to that kind of God & serves not only as a reminder of His trustworthiness but as an opportunity to see Him demonstrate it again.
