DAY 7 OF 7

The God of All Grace

1 Peter 5:6-11, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Grace is another excellent quality of our fabulous God. It has been defined as giving us what we do not deserve or putting it another way – God’s benevolence toward the unworthy, and that is great enough all by itself; but grace is more than that. It is God’s power in us to live for His glory. Our wonderful God of grace never leaves us or forsakes us. God’s purpose is to always do us good, but that doesn’t mean we won’t suffer or be attacked by the enemy. Sin has ruined our world, and we suffer as a result whether or not it is our sin. God uses our suffering to strengthen us and cause our eyes to be focused on Him. His grace not only sustains us during the trial but restores and strengthens us after the trial.

Grace is first mentioned in Genesis 6:8, “Noah found favor (KJV says ‘grace’) in the eyes of the Lord,” and God’s favor is His grace.

We are saved by grace. Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

Grace allows us to live as God desires. James 4:6, “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.””

According to 2 Thessalonians 2:16, God encourages us with grace, “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,”.

Grace is a gift to us as Ephesians 4:7 declares, “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”

Jesus Christ is the very embodiment of grace; John 1:14, “full of grace and truth.”

Reflection: What a joy to be grace-filled by our Lord Jesus Christ! He graces us with the will and the power to serve Him! Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

As we reflect and revel in these seven marvelous manifestations of our great God; Glory, Endurance and Encouragement, Hope, Comfort, Love, Peace, and Grace, let us bow in prayer and gratitude using this prayer from Ephesians 3:14-21, “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
