The Magic Of ChristmasSample
"Quiet . . . Due to the Noise"
I love Christmas music. I’m the guy who is ready to start listening to the Christmas albums on repeat as soon as the final bite of Thanksgiving pie is consumed. I’ll take whatever Christmas album you have! Is it Elvis? Mariah Carey? The Beach Boys? Justin Bieber? Just hit “Play.”
One of my all-time favorite songs is “Silent Night.” It’s a vivid reminder of the scene of our Savior’s birth. It also reminds us of the impact his arrival had on all of creation for all time. It’s an anthem of good news for each one of us!
Christ’s birth was the dawn of grace that ultimately has the power to redeem every single one of us. "Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love's pure light. Radiant beams from Thy holy face. With the dawn of redeeming grace. Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth . . ."
This is a lullaby. It is a reminder that we can all “sleep in heavenly peace” because our Savior has arrived. But don’t be confused, my friends. That night was not a silent one! First of all, there was a crying newborn baby present. We all know that’s not quiet. But overwhelmingly louder than the crying baby was the humongous heavenly army that showed up to shout praises to the newborn King.
Can you picture the scene? I bet it was crazy! It was definitely loud. When the Savior of the World showed up on the scene, it was party time for heaven and earth. There has never been better news for humanity than the birth of Jesus.
During this month of December, we have the opportunity to reflect on the greatness of that day in Bethlehem. It was a day of loud celebration and praise. At the same time, we are able to rest peacefully and quietly today because our Savior has come. You see, we are only able to have peace and quiet due to the noise.
