Forgiveness: Do You Need the Magic Eraser?

DAY 1 OF 3

THE MAGIC ERASER

In 2003, Magic Erasers® hit the market, and those who purchased them have been forever thankful. This magical, little white sponge does the hard work of making our sinks, tubs, and showers shine, removing all the grit and scum with ease.

In 1455 the Gutenberg Bible was first printed. Today, over 100 million Bibles are published each year.

Throughout this Book are the very first, ‘magic erasers!’ We are assured by the Word of God that, as we use His Word and follow its precepts, we too can be spiritually squeaky clean.

So often, we come to God and ask for forgiveness, but we don’t give Him all of our dirt. Perhaps we think He will miss seeing a little scum in a corner, so we hang on to it and before we know it, the scum grows within our spirits.

“If we confess our sins to him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” I John 1:9.

Scripture assures us that God is faithful, and He is just to forgive and cleanse us from all wickedness, if we are willing to confess them and give them all to Him.

My eyes are very good, and those who know me know that I love a squeaky-clean home. But the first time I used a magic eraser sponge on my sink, I was shocked to see what it was able to remove because it was stuff I could not see.

So, it is with the Lord! We often bury our sins and forget they are lying dormant until temptation comes to stir them up. But when God gets a hold of us and cleans our spirits, we realize the weight of the dirt that has built up inside and made us filthy.

PRAYER STARTER:

Father God, I know that I do some things that do not please you. (Be specific.) I don’t feel good about them and want them out of my life. Please help me, Lord, to get rid of them. I trust that You will forgive me. (Be sincerely repentant.)
