Safe in God's Control

DAY 5 OF 5

Safe in God's Control

Every day we have to determine the one who has the right to govern all of our lives, whether it is God or ourselves. That choice is a battle. There are things in our lives that we want to control. Sometimes we want to make our own rules. However, we must let God control our lives if we want to live a life free from stress. This life surrender begins when we say: “Lord, I give all controls of my life over to You, because only You can control anything, including what I can't control.” Then each day we choose to renew and live in the reality of that commitment.

The psalmist said, "Be still and know that I am God!". We may not understand what we are facing these days, so we must let go of the things that are out of our control and leave them in God's hands, knowing that God controls every situation in our life. This step of faith shows that we entrust everything to God. Whatever it is, from the smallest things to situations that seem difficult and out of our control, let's trust God with them. Don't be in a hurry to 'help' God solve our problems, because that can make us stressed and depressed. The more we try to control the situation, the more likely we are to fail.

Many of the sources of stress that everyone faces are from being in a position of conflict with God. People try to control things that only God can control. We cannot control our spouse, children, jobs, the future, or even the past and everything in it. The more we try to do it, the more we play God and put ourselves in opposition to Him. Instead, we should pray as exemplified in the Lord's Prayer, “Thy kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread."

Let us live day after day enjoying every second of walking with God because we know He is willing to guide us in His way. God manifests His power in the lives of those who surrender completely to Him.

When you finish this series of devotionals, take a few deep breaths and exhale. Calm your mind and start praying with words of thanksgiving and praise, then ending your prayer with “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth (in my life, in my family, in my work, in my future) as it is in heaven” Remember, the Lord Jesus loves you.

How often do we get stressed out trying to control complicated situations in our lives? This stress can hinder God's power at work in our lives. Our unbelief slowly eats away at our faith and causes disappointment to overtake us. We must stop before this happens! This devotional will remind you of God's miraculous deeds, help you remember that He is in control, and revive your faith in Him.
