He Calls, He Perfects
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
Luke 5: 5-6 (NIV )
God reminds us repeatedly to submit our will to align with His. His ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts are beyond ours. If not submitted to God’s will, our human will can hinder us from encountering the fullness of His Kingdom goodness and blessings.
The One who gave the fishermen a net-breaking miraculous catch, cleansed the leper, forgives sins, and brought divine healing to many, calls us by name to follow Him. Throughout the gospels, Jesus exemplified through His own life, His total submission to the will of The Father, even His death on the Cross. He gave us a divine exchange for His Life of true abundance and freedom through it. Against His reasoning, Peter submitted to the Lord’s instructions and encountered Heaven’s invasion, his life aligned with God’s divine purposes. Are we aware and willing to follow the Saviour’s call? Is our will submitted to the One who perfects all things?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the way of grace through Jesus. Lord Jesus, may our hearts be always tender to Your voice, our will surrendered to You that Your Kingdom blessings may be perfected in us and through us in all. In Jesus’ name. Amen

As the longest book in the New Testament, Luke makes the purpose of his writing clear at the beginning: to investigate and write an account of the Gospel. As a Gentile physician, Luke has deliberately recorded many healing miracles of Jesus and His care for the social outcasts. The Gospel is summarised in this proclamation of Jesus, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
