Walking With Jesus (Unity)

DAY 6 OF 7

United we stand, divided we fall.

Philippians 2:2-4

Lord Jesus did not expect division. The division is the devil's desire, who carries it out through worldly desires or the desires of the flesh. The Bible teaches us that divided kingdoms and homes will not stand. The division will result in destruction.

We must live in unity or live with one heart and one mind. Lord Jesus Christ is the basis of our unity (of one heart and mind); we no longer recognize the difference between rich-poor, educated-uneducated, Jewish-Greek, etc. We are one in Lord Jesus Christ: we have the same God the Father and the same Holy Spirit. Division in the body of Christ means we are against Lord Jesus.

The key to unity is humility, love, and the desire to find mutual benefit (and not our self-interest). We must also give no chance to the devil. Paul said to the Corinthian church, "In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought." (1 Corinthians 1:10). Divison is the same as the lust of the flesh, and those who live in it will not enter the kingdom of God.

We always expect results from the various efforts we put in. The results of this unity (of one heart and one mind) are extraordinary blessings that include: answered prayers (Matt. 18:19-20), blessed lives (Ps. 133:1-3), and glory for Lord Jesus (Romans 15:5-7).

That's why Lord Jesus wants us to continue to be united and strong in Him. We need His wisdom to have it. We can build and strengthen each other, mature spiritually, and stay afloat amid various conflicts with unity. That's why we should strive for one heart and one mind in our lives.

Reflection:

1. When was the most difficult time for you to be of one heart and mind with Jesus? Do you always align your heart and mind with Jesus?

2. What divisions do you often see in God's family and church?

Practice: Having the heart and mind of Christ is a life goal that we must strive for day by day.

About this Plan

Walking With Jesus (Unity)

We often hear the phrase: God is present and works through unity, but what does God want us to do? Through this devotional series, "Walking with Jesus," about unity, we will learn how to apply and understand the Lord's blessing for His children, who live in unity in all aspects of their lives.
