Biblical Success - Running Our Race - HeadwindsSample
Our battle is a spiritual battle. That’s why we need spiritual armor. We have to fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons. If we try to fight in our strength, we will take a beating at best. The devil can’t steal our salvation, but he can do damage to our destiny. If we passively watch the battle and don’t engage and defend ourselves, we will get beaten up and can’t tap out. Our enemy presses his deceptions against us as a river presses water against a dam, looking for a weak spot. The river’s pressure never backs off, and its goal is to break down the dam and sweep it completely away.
To fight and win, we must push back against the lies being told to us in the battle with our knowledge of the truth and use His weapons. Don’t be deceived! The greatest deception is “This battle isn’t real!”. It is as real as a heart attack!
There is no middle ground in this battle. There is no fellowship between light and darkness. This war is not about economics, politics, parties, philosophy, or left or right extremes. It’s not about denominations or doctrine. Those are only strategies or tactics the enemy uses to divert our focus and divide us.
The real war is for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are Christ’s warriors and Ambassadors. I know that this stark language repulses some, but it is what it is. Our enemy will never quit. He may be pushed back for a time here and there but will only regroup to open another front. Freedom, even freedom in Christ, is never free. Evil will spread with no effort, but good always requires disciplined effort.
God has given us strong weapons, but we must take them up. The best time to start a winning day is as soon as we get up. If we fill our minds with God’s truth in quiet time, it is harder for the devil’s lies to sneak in. “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” Psalms 119:9-11 NKJV
Winning our spiritual battles begins with growing to know Jesus better and more and more intimately. Building intimacy requires time and honesty, and there is no better investment of our time than to spend with our Father in His Word and in community with like-minded disciples. The headwinds will never go away, but “Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world.” Press in and press on!
