Daily Strength for MothersSample
Elevate Others
As a mother, you know exactly what it means to put the needs of others before your own. You are constantly making sure that your children are well cared for before you think about yourself. Each little way you seek their good over your own is an act of faith, trusting the Lord that he will care for you. Notice that there aren’t any precursors to this Scripture.
It feels natural to put the needs of your children before your own, but what about your neighbor? Or your enemy? The call to seek the good of others over your own isn’t limited to areas that make you comfortable. In every area of your life—relationships, education, politics, the workplace—seek the good of others. As you do this, being more concerned with injustice toward others than yourself, you can trust God to be the one to fight for you. He will faithfully care for you as you seek to value others above yourself.
Thank you, God, for the reminder to seek the good of others. I’m sorry for the areas where I have selfishly elevated my well-being. Help me to selflessly care for others and trust you for my own needs.
