DAY 13 OF 21

Day 13

Pastor Buckie Thornock

Topic: Strength for Our Families

Scripture Reference: Ephesians 3:16–19

Devotional:

God loves family! He designed family to be our home base of love, stability, and strength. When our families are strong, they provide the greatest opportunity for us to experience God’s love, leadership, and care. God desires our families to be connected to Him as the source of our strength, and His Word even teaches us how to ask for that strength!

In Ephesians 3, the apostle Paul writes to pray for the family of God to experience spiritual strength. He starts by saying that he himself looks to the Father, who is the beginning of all family, and models for us that having a strong family begins with seeking after God! We can reflect this in our own families by taking time daily to acknowledge God’s leadership and pray over one another. We can look at the way that Paul prayed for the Ephesians and pray this over one another! Paul prayed that we would be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit and that we would know the love of God together. God is the source of our strength, and it is His love that binds our hearts together as a family.

Holy Spirit, strengthen and empower me and my family. I ask that my children would walk in partnership with the Holy Spirit at their schools and with their friends. Help them to be bold in sharing the love of Jesus with others! I pray that my parents would follow Your lead, that they would be rooted in Your love, and that they would be filled with everything they need from You! As a family, I pray that each of us would experience Your love today and that it would strengthen us to follow You wherever You lead.

For some, the topic of family can be a painful subject. Whether you have suffered a broken relationship, the loss of a loved one, or the loneliness of isolation, I want to encourage you as well. God designed the church to be the family of God! We are here to support and strengthen one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, lean into the family of God and ask for the Lord to highlight people in the church who can encourage and strengthen you in your faith!

About this Plan

Seek

SEEK is a season at Radiant Church where we minimize the distractions and routines of our lives to hear God’s voice and focus on what He is saying. When we turn down the volume, it has the supernatural effect of turning up the volume of God’s voice. We encourage you to intentionally spend time praying and fasting, remove a comfort that consumes your time, and dedicate to seek God's face.
