Psalms Of Praise And The Word

DAY 4 OF 10

The True Place of Peace

Psalms 120 to 134 are known as songs of “ascent” or “songs to take you higher.” If ever there was a song designed to lift us up, Psalm 121 is it. The original context was probably the pilgrim’s journey up to Jerusalem for the Feasts of the Lord: Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. The pilgrim may even have recited these songs climbing up the steps toward the temple.

As the pilgrim looked up, he realized once again that his protection did not come from the mountains and hills, but from God, who tirelessly watches over us all day and night. Let’s never forget that God is by our side at all times. He watches over us and shelters us. Guarded by God himself, we find a place of peace under the canopy of his vigilant love.

Our peace is found in the arms of Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace. Bring all your troubles and cares to him, and ask him for the heavenly peace that passes all understanding — a peace that the world cannot give.

About this Plan

Psalms Of Praise And The Word

The Psalms find the words that express our deepest and strongest emotions, no matter what the circumstances. These devotions, inspired by The Passion Translation Psalms: Poetry on Fire, combined with the daily readings, will turn sighing into singing and trouble into triumph. This 10–day reading plan includes the Psalms of praise and the Word spanning Psalms 107-150.
