Ending the Year on PurposeSample
Dreams & Goals
"In order to see the work finish, we have to be wise in our planning. Hasty actions can lead to detrimental consequences." - Bria Gilmore, The Last Thirty Devotional: A 30-day Guide to Living Your Best Year Before it Begins
Now that we’ve allowed the Holy Spirit to examine us from the outside in, we will shift to the very area that most people are thinking about right now. Goals help us strategically achieve the desires of our heart. However, in order to set intentional goals, we must create the space to dream purposeful dreams.
Goals should be the framework to the blueprints drawn out by our dreams. We’re purposefully ending the year creating the space we need to dream big dreams. That way you have a better idea of what you want to set as goals.
However, we must remember that the only future and hope we can bet our lives on is the one God has for us. The way we clearly discern God’s desires for us is by creating the space needed to allow the Holy Spirit to clarify His plans while dimming the view on the plans we have for ourselves.
Reflection:
What do you believe the Holy Spirit is leading you to accomplish in this life?
When you get to the end of next year, what would you like to have accomplished?
What's one thing you can do today to live more purposefully in this area?
About this Plan
Adapted from The Last Thirty Devotional, this plan is a journey designed to challenge readers to end their year with greater purpose and intentionality. We will not wake up on New Year's Day and suddenly have better eating habits, relational habits, or work-related habits. We have to make intentional decisions today in order to see lasting change and truly experience a fulfilled life tomorrow.
