The True Treasure of Christmas

DAY 4 OF 6

A creative way to treasure Christ and share His love during the holidays is through food.

God shares in His Word what a blessing it is to share food with loved ones and the needy. The Lord loves when we are generous and cheerful givers.

How great is God to create so many food choices and purposes for food? God could’ve just given us one nourishing food item for all meals…yet He chose to demonstrate exceptional creativity and genius with all the varieties and choices of food.

Holiday food isn’t just a great way to be hospitable and enjoy time with loved ones; I believe God also created food so we can extend His love and care to others.

There are multiple ways we can use food to treasure Christ and show His love to others throughout the holiday season.

Here are today's Christmas ideas:

  • Create a fruit, treat, or food basket to give to others.
  • Bake and decorate a birthday cake for Jesus.
  • Bake Christmas treats to pass out to loved ones and neighbors. Including a scripture card and church invite is a great witnessing tool, too!
  • Invite loved ones, or those you know who are hurting or lonely, to enjoy Christmas dinner.
  • Buy Christmas goodies and give them to police stations, teachers, fire stations, church staff, military families, trash collectors, mailmen, and shelters, along with a church invite. Ask how you can pray for them. Many places require prepackaged items due to safety concerns...and are so very appreciated.
  • Host a Christmas Tea and Coffee. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors, and invite those who attend to church.
  • Do a special Lord’s Supper with grape juice and unleavened bread. Truly think about the miracle and treasure of Christmas. Shower Jesus with love, praise, gratitude, and appreciation as you draw close to His heart.
  • Plan a special dinner with Jesus. Cook a nice meal, watch a Christmas message or movie, play some praise music, read God’s Word, and enjoy the Lord’s presence, love, and friendship.
  • Go all out in making memories with Jesus and family…really love them...make treats, enjoy dinners, go out for coffee or ice cream, do Christmas activities together. You’ll always be so grateful to have invested time with Jesus and loved ones. One day, we'll either say, "I wish I would have"...or..."I'm so glad I did."

There are many ways to enjoy the season with Jesus and bless others with God’s love through the blessing of food.

Ask Jesus how He would like you to show His love through the gift of food and fellowship.

Consider ways to bless and encourage others in honor of Jesus' birthday.

Talk to Jesus (and your family) about being a blessing to others through the gift of fellowship and food.

Make this the most treasured Christmas ever for the true Treasure of Christmas!
